Sociale Montreal Event: Bollywood Night

Monday was a very busy day.  Vendors and suppliers visits took up all of the morning and afternoon.  It was a very productive day, and it's a few other blog posts on their own, so stay tuned in the coming week for them!

The day ended perfectly with Bollywood à la Sociale hosted by Sociale Montreal at the Kai Studio Loft

I’ve always loved Indian food, but after the first ever Montreal Shaadi Show, I fell in love with the South Asian culture!  The second I saw “Bollywood Night à la Sociale” event on facebook, I jumped at the opportunity and purchased a ticket to attend! Not only that, I told others about it and they also came along and had a lot of fun!

Boy, did we have a blast learning about the history of Bollywood with the Bollywood queen, Ina B. from Bollywood Blast! The beautiful Mika Holborow from Mika Makeup was also there to give a demo and some amazing tips!
Samoas, sangria, desserts, makeup tips, saris, dancing, loop bags, networking, fun, fun and fun was what summed up the night!  Here are photos! Not enough? Visit our facebook page for more!

Montreal Wedding Venues: Old Montreal Castle

Did you know there's a stunning castle right here in Old Montreal?  I had the opportunity to visit Chateau Vieux Montreal and I was speechless. When you walk by its doors on Notre Dame, you will never be able to guess how stunning it is on the inside!

The castle is available for rent during the day for an intimate and unique experience or the perfect accommodation for your wedding guests who's come from afar for your special day!  No words can describe how stunning it is, so I'll let you see for yourself! Actually... not even the photos can do it justice!  Here are a few teasers, visit our facebook page for more photos!

Montreal Wedding Venues: 40 Westt

Another great restaurant and venue for your next celebration!  We had the opportunity to taste the menu and was given a tour of the event spaces and facilities at 40 Westt.  Tino and the staff were great and very hospitable. 40 Westt is great for private dining or celebrating celebrating a special occasion or a big party for 400 guests!  We have no doubts that our client events at 40 Westt will be a unique and unforgettable one!  Check it out!

Montreal Wedding Venues: L'Auberge Saint-Gabrie

A few weeks ago, a few WPICC's and I had the opportunity to visit L'Auberge Saint-Gabriel in Old Montreal to taste their menu and visit their event spaces to see what they have to offer to our clients for weddings and events.  Here are some photos of their venue...

Do check their website for more rooms available for your events.  I absolutely love their stone walls in the Room Truteau, but my favourite room remains the Room Grenier, perfect for a rustic or barn wedding style, don't you think?  Which one is your favourite?

We had a great experience at L'Auberge Saint-Gabriel. Thanks to the team at the Auberge for making our night a great one!

InterContinental Hotel Montreal

The Montreal Certified Planners of the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada got together last night for a mini cocktail hosted by the InterContinental Hotel. We would really like to thank Maria-Jose Castallon, her director, Thierry Noire, Nichole (the lady who served us and stayed with us that extra 2 hours until 10:30pm!), the chef and the rest of the staff for hosting our group.

InterContinental Hotel is such a gorgeous venue for any event. La Ruelle was actually my first choice for our own wedding 1.5 years ago but unfortunately my 450-guest wedding wouldn't have fit. We did a thorough site inspection of the hotel. All of us were very impressed by what it has to offer brides, grooms and their guests.

Maria-Jose is such an awesome Banquet Sales Manager. Give her a shout for your wedding or other events you may be organizing, you'll be in good hands!

Our next site inspection at another Montreal venue will be in January 2010. Stay tuned!

Save on Decor

When choosing a reception hall, choose one with a lot of character, as oppose to a room with plain walls, so that you don't have to spend much money to decorate the room. This was one of the reasons why I chose my reception hall for my wedding. It was absolutely beautiful with their lightings.

You can also consider botanical gardens, museums and other historical sites. These venues will make the most perfect and most beautiful backdrop for your wedding.

Let There Be Light

You should always go visit your venue at least once during the hours you plan to hold your reception. Most of you will probably go visit your venue during the day when it's still bright out, but you might be surprised how different the venue and the surroundings are at night. Perhaps your venue is by the beach and your guests need to go through this poorly lite path to get to your venue. If that is the case, you might want to think about putting some candles or torches along the path from the parking lot to your venue. Or maybe your venue has a space outdoors or a terrace your guests can take advantage of, but you will have to make sure there's enough lights for your guests to enjoy that space.

Congrats Ming & Johnny!

I want to share with you some photos from my best friend's wedding a little more than two weeks ago on October 18. Ming & Johnny are very special and dear friends of mine and my hubby's. We share many similar experiences while planning our weddings and we've been through a lot to get to where we are now. It's been more than a week since they wedded and I still can't believe they're married! Just wanted to congratulate them once again and best wishes! We love you!
