Montreal's First Ever Shaadi Show

We had an amazing opportunity to be one of the exhibitors at the first ever Montreal Shaadi Show a week ago and boy, did we have fun!  As you can imagine how many trade shows you've been to over the years both as guests and as exhibitors, but we have never had this much fun!

All the guests and visitors were very fun to talk to, the vendors were friendly and genuine, the fashion show was definitely an eye opener, the food was yum yum good, the jewelries were absolutely beautiful, (especially the ones from Boutique de Luxe), the MC and show organizer, Girish, ran the show without a hitch, the entertainment by Bollywood Blast was just over the top!

If you couldn't make it to the show this year, you miss out! 5th Annual Wedding Bliss Bridal Gown Sale

I know I'm a little behind on the blogging... because we have big plans in the works!  But I still want to share with you something that took place 3 weeks ago...  The 5th Annual Wedding Bliss Bridal Gown Sale by New Beginnings Support Program.

New Beginnings is a charitable agency that has been working in the community to help improve the lives of women and children ‘in need’.  New Beginnings empowers women to become confident, self-sufficient, career-oriented and employable. This transition creates better lives for themselves, their children and their communities. Many job placement programs only prepare people for minimum wage employment with no further advancement.

In August a flood caused more than $100,000 in damages at New Beginnings. They lost over a years worth of wedding gown donations, records, furniture and office supplies.  They still have a long way to go to return to the fully functioning charity they once were.  To help them continue operations and continue to transform lives of women and children, all the proceeds from the 5th Annual Wedding Bliss Bridal Gown Sale go to their recovery efforts to get back on their feet.

A Timeless Celebration was in on the action!  We were an exhibitor and reception decor sponsor at Wedding Bliss.  It was really amazing seeing over 50 volunteers work so hard and pulling everything together.  Over 70 gowns were sold, more than $16,000 was raised and 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the New Beginnings Support Program.

The Brides' Ball

For those of you who are married, is your wedding gown sitting in your closet in the basement? Have you ever wanted to wear your wedding gown again? Well here's your chance! Not only do you get to wear your wedding gown again, in doing so, you are supporting the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation!

Weddingring.ca is hosting a Brides' Ball on Saturday, February 23 (Kitchener, ON) and Friday, February 29 (London, ON). There will be a cocktail, dinner, lots of entertainment and dance & DJ through out the evening.

Le Salon de la Mariee

My fiance and I are back from the Let's Get Married Bridal Show and I grabbed lots of free magazines and lots of business cards. We've been to many wedding shows before, as wedding planners, decorators, vendors and this time, as bride and groom-to-be. Our most important mission at this bridal show was to grab our Moores Formal Wear promotion coupon. It's a super great deal for tux rentals. This is where my fiance rent his tux for our wedding portrait photo shot in the summer. With the purchase of this coupon (for $10) at the bridal show, you can rent as many tuxes as you need for your big day and receive $30 off each tux. Let's Get Married Bridal Show

The annual biggest bridal show in Quebec is coming again soon. This year, the Let's Get Married Bridal Show will take place January 10-11, 2008. Mark your calendars!

These bridal shows are a lot of fun if you haven't been to too many of them in the past. You get to meet all the vendors all under one roof. There are lots and lots of information and ideas to grab from this show. You might be overwhelmed with all the vendors there, so plan your visit wisely! You might want to scan the list of vendors and exhibitors on their website before going. Mark down the ones that interests you, perhaps write down some questions you might want to ask them.

Also, another word of advice, don't go lining up at the entrance a hour before the show opens! Why would you want to do that anyways? Pick a time, say two hours after the door opens to avoid the rush so that you get to actually speak to the vendors and they can give you more attention with less people around.
