Hot Chocolate Favors

If you're still searching for the perfect winter wedding favors, why not consider some hot chocolate mix for your guests? Nothing is better than a cup of hot chocolate during the cold winter months! You can purchase them all packaged up nice and pretty from online sellers such as Beau Coup (image on left) or Hot Ref (image on right).

If you're a DIY bride like myself, I would encourage you to make your own. Think of unique packaging you can do with the hot chocolate mix, perhaps in a tin can with your monogram sticker on it tied with a ribbon? Your guests would definitely appreciate some hot chocolate mix in a mug! You might also want to get personalized mugs to go with the mix.

You can do a Spiced Cocoa Mix or an Instant Cocoa Mix with Marshmallow. Just thinking about them makes me all warm inside!

If you already decided on your favors for your winter wedding, why not think of preparing some hot chocolate to greet your guests at your ceremony or reception? I'm sure your guests would love that!

Spiced Cocoa Mix
  • 2 cups powdered milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup non-dairy creamer powder
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg, ground
  • 1/4 tsp cardemom, ground
  • 1/4 tsp cloves, ground
Mix all ingredients, and store in an air-tight container. One quarter cup of this mixture in 3/4 cup water to make cocoa.

  • 1 1/2 cups non-dairy coffee creamer, about 6 ounces

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups miniature marshmallows

Preparation:

Season Decorations

If you are having a December or a New Years wedding at a reception hall or a hotel, you might be able to save some money on your decorations as the venue will definitely be decorated for the holiday seasons. So make sure you ask your reception hall or hotel how the venue will be decorated. If you're not crazy about their holiday decorations, it's also good to ask in advance if they can temporarily remove them during your reception.

This does not only apply to December and New Years weddings, some hotels and reception halls also has decorations for February (Valentines/Hearts), October or November (Halloween/Pumpkins/Thanksgiving).

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

How many of you actually write and mail (or give out) Christmas cards to your friends and family? It's really too bad people don't often write Christmas cards anymore. I just love receiving Christmas cards when my friends actually put in the time to write me one. It says a lot when they take the time to do that.

Every Christmas I make 50-70 Christmas cards to give out to my friends. They tell me they look forward to my handmade Christmas cards every year. All my Christmas cards have a handmade element to them. Here are the ones I made this year with hand-drawn gold accents on the front of each card.

We also gave out our save-the-dates with each Christmas card and everyone loved the idea! It sets the tone for our wedding and it allows people to make plans ahead of time so that they can be sure not to make any plans to be out-of-town for your wedding.

Christmas is Here!

Christmas is here soon! I just love Christmas! I started doing some Christmas shopping today for my friends. Wasn't too successful... I ended up buying things for myself instead... I hope next time I'll do better! I just got home from decorating my church. I enjoy decorating so much. I absolutely love any pastel colors with silver, blue and silver, pink and silver, purple and silver! I chose blue and silver to match the Christmas season. Here are some photos of the decorations of the front of our sanctuary. I hope you like them!
