1 - DIE CUTS! How cute are these die cut invitations?? These are unique and adorable and not your average square or rectangular invitations. It’s an unforgettable little surprise for your guests!

Gold and Ivory with a Touch of Blue!

A heart warming email I received from my client...

"Thank you so so much for making everything work out exactly the way both myself and granddaughter wanted it. For two people who never had a meeting you understood everything the way we wanted it. It was super great she cried her eyes out when she saw the room."

Yup, that's right! The Grandmother and I have never met each other until a few hours before the celebration was to begin! Since April, I've been working with Grandmother of a young lady who was turning 18 in September. The celebration was to take place at Chateau Vaudreuil with 30 families and friends. Grandmother designed the entire party and everything was a surprise. Everything, except the centerpieces, which Grandmother did ask for Granddaughter's approval, hehe!

Grandmother contacted me to create some gold and ivory feather centerpieces for the evening, but ended up with so much more as we brainstormed different ideas together. Here's what we have arranged together for the celebration Grandmother gave to Granddaughter...

Elegant Wedding Show

Finally... a little late, but as promised, here are the photos from our little table at the Elegant Wedding Show last month!  All the vendors' booths were amazing and very creative!  For those of you who had a chance to attend the show, hope you enjoyed being pampers with drinks and food and enjoyed meeting the many vendors who will help make your upcoming wedding unforgettable!

Here's our tiny little table that made an impact on those who passed by.  We chose black and yellow as our theme colors.  The centerpiece featured three tall cylinder vases filled with yellow water and a black ribbon around the top of each vase.  Bunches of yellow hydrangeas topped the vases with some black feathers for the finishing touch.  Smaller vases simply circled the taller ones with roses and chrysanthemums to add sophistication to the overall look of the tablescape.

Of course we featured our invitations at the Show.  Going along with the yellow theme, we created a double layer flat invitation with matching place cards, menus, table number and favor boxes.

These round menus would be perfect to top a charger plate.

And here are a few fun shots from the rest of the Show... As the guests entered Le Windsor, they were all greeted by this lovely lady with champagnes as their first treat!  Just imagine having her at your cocktail hour!

The Write Stuff

No matter who you choose to print your invitations and stationery, always do it the right way. The first place you should look is through families and friends, ask for recommendations. This the best way to look for a good invitation printer, and of course this applies to all vendors you look for.

Always ask to see examples of the stationer's work, work that they have personally done in the past, not photos of other stationery they have downloaded off the internet and they claim that they can reproduce the design.

Even though I do invitations myself, I would suggest that you visit at least 3 stationery retailers so that you can have a better idea of the prices, styles and personalized options that are available.

Also, business is business! You should ask questions right from the start and if possible, get the terms and conditions in writing. The easiest is to communicate the important things through email so that you have everything written out in black and white. Again, this applies to all vendors you deal with, always get everything down on paper!

Questions you might want to ask your stationer:
- can you see an actual sample before placing an order?
- what are the liability for printing mistakes on their part?
- does extra prints cost extra, does it count as a new order?
- do the invitations come fully assembled?
- what is the cost difference if they do the printing and you do the assembling?
- do they print your return address on the invitation and RSVP envelopes?

Always proofread all master texts BEFORE placing the order. Have a couple of family members or friends proofread it for you, they might catch a mistake you have missed! Also check your final invitations after production when you pick them up. Check it on the spot instead of waiting until you get home and when you finally find time to address the envelopes and stuff in the invitation. If the stationer made a mistake, it would be too late to do anything about it when you find out.
